Collaboration
Writing can be a lonely occupation, so the opportunity to collaborate with others is always welcome.
In January 2009, Winn collaborated with a fellow author in a competition, jointly writing a 2000-word short story. For a number of reasons, they were not successful in the competition, but Winn found it an entertaining, enjoyable and sometimes stressful experience. Looking at the novels of Josie Lloyd and Emlyn Rees, this obviously works better for some than others.
In May 2009, Winn worked with long-time friend and hugely talented artist Juliet Rose for a series of pieces for the Wimbledon Open Studios. Their first offering was a series of four pieces, each featuring a short story by Winn and a collage by Juliet (see The Right Idea for an example of their work). Juliet did marvellous work with the presentation (of which Winn was very much a silent partner), and the feedback received was encouraging. They hope to work together again when their schedules allow.
